The #1 guide to stay-at-home budget-friendly vacations that shows you

How to save money and have more fun on your next family
vacation without leaving home.

Dear Friend,

If youre like most of us, the past year has been a rough one. People have lost their jobs, had salaries reduced, and seen their life savings cut in half. Its a time when we are all cutting back on non-essential (and even essential!) expenses. Unfortunately, one of the first things to go in this kind of economy is the family vacation.

We just couldnt afford our usual vacation this year. Instead of feeling stuck, we used 101 Great Staycations to find ways to have fun as a family while staying close to home.

"How Can I Give My Family a Great Vacation When I Have No Money?"

With summer fast approaching, many parents are worried about how they will tell their kids that the family vacation will have to be cancelled because they simply cant afford it. This doesnt have to be the case. You can still enjoy a great summerby planning a Staycation!

What Is a Staycation?

A staycation is literally a vacation you take at home. A clever way of adding the word stay (as in stay-at-home) and vacation. The term staycation gained its popularity in the summer of 2008 during a period of dramatic gas price increases and higher travel costs. With a global economic crisis and record unemployment claims, it looks like staycations are going to be just as popular in 2009.

Can We Really Have as Much Fun Staying Home as We Would on a Vacation?

Yes. Think about it. While none of us can deny the beauty and excitement of a resort beach or a mountain getaway, a Staycation still offers many advantages that a vacation cant. For instance:

  • Staycations offer affordability. According to the American Auto Association, an average 2-person vacation will average $244 per day. When you add a couple of kids, the price goes even higher. By staying home and enjoying nearby attractions and activities you can literally save $1000s!

  • Staycations offer convenience. Vacations are full of headaches such aspacking, airport delays, remembering what you can or cant carry on to a plane, high gas prices at the pump, and keeping track of all the paperwork like tickets, passports, money vouchers and itineraries. With a Staycation, you avoid all of this, plus, you never have to worry about forgetting your toothbrush!

  • Staycations offer true family bonding. With no exotic destinations or must-see attractions to compete with, you can put the Family back in Family Vacation. Staycations will help you create those great moments family memories are made of.

I loved this book! In this economy I was worried about not being able to treat my kids to a vacation. But with 101 Great Staycations we still managed to plan great family activities while staying within budget.

More Than 100 Budget-friendly Fun Staycations!

When my wife and I first started thinking about how to transform our vacation into a memorable staycation, our first question was, "What are we going to do?"  Followed closely by, "Will the kids have fun?"

So what we did was sit down together and list staycation ideas.  I grabbed a small Moleskine Ruled Notebook and over a period of a couple days, we jotted down over 100 family friendly staycation ideas! I'm ready to now share my personal staycation ideas with you!

In my experience I have found that it is quite easy to overlook those opportunities in your local area where you can have a true vacation-like experience.  The key in having a successful stay-at-home vacation is planning and preparation....and that's where "101 Great Staycations" comes in.

This is much more than just a list

About four months ago, I took our staycation list and turned it over to a professional writer and editor to transform it into a a full-fledged staycation guide. The writer suggested that we group ideas by season (families do take vacations at all times of the year) and that we provide a section on how to get started and additional resources to aid in making staycations a truly memorable experience.

Our kids baseball schedules and summer swim meets keep us close to home during the summer. But with 101 Great Staycations we still came up with ways to escape as a family and create great staycation memories.

The end result was spectacular.  Each staycation idea (and remember there are over 100) contains:

Section 1: Photos

Each idea contains professionally photographed, high-quality, color photos to help provide inspiration for you to take the idea and run with it.

Section 2: How to make it Happen

Many vacation and guide books just give you an idea and leave it up to you to figure out how to make it happen.  With "101 Great Staycations" I talk you through step-by-step on how to transform an idea and make it a reality.

Section 3: Additional Activities

101 ideas is really just the start of it if you include all of the additional activities I've included with each idea.  These are ways you can expand the staycation idea and make it your own unique and memorable experience that your kids will talk about for life.

Not just for summer

The value of a Staycation

In its annual summer vacation survey, the American Automobile Association (AAA) said the average North American vacation will cost $244 per day for two people for lodging and meals. The priciest destination will be Honolulu, where room and food for two adults will average $673 a day. Add some kids and airfare, and a 10-day vacation could top $10,000, easy. Wow! Who can afford that? Not me.

101 Great Staycations won't cost you even a hundredth of that!  This 109 page staycation guide, which I have spent countless hours organizing, preparing, writing and proofing can be yours today for a introductory price of only $9.95 but you must order today because this book will be in hot demand this summer and I will be raising the price significantly as soon as summer is here.
